In Australia? Visit Sydney Festival 2013

Linda Lycett, Editor-in-Chief

I
f you happen to be in Australia or close-by, why not take part of one of the best summer festivals in the world - Sydney Festival 2013. Offering lots to see for everyone interested in music, film, theatre and other arts, during three weeks the festival attracts a crowd of nearly half a million people with both their free and ticketed events.

The festival's 18 free events makes it Australia's largest festival of free outdoor program of concerts and events.

Under the strong guidance of the new Festival Director Lieven Bertels the festival will be offering visitors total of 92 events and 360 performances. Would you like to see internationally well known conductor Andre De Ridder in the revisit of Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey? Or what about Semele Walk, a radical retelling of Handel's opera Semele by Ludger Engels?

It's all there! Even late nights with comedy, music and cabaret; international as well as national known and yet not so well known bands and DJs; works by The Royal Shakespeare Company as well as by France's Orchestre National De Jazz.

The festival is taking place for the 37th time, this year from January 5th to January 27th. Attendees are expected to bring with them high expectations and good mood. After all, it's time to celebrate Sydney in summer together with one of the best arts festival of the year.
