HGTV Design Star - a star in the making

Siim Eefus,

uesday, May 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT is the launch date for the seventh season of HGTV Designs Star. The show is looking for a charismatic person who is likable, who is comfortable on-camera and is capable of really leaving the star-impression.

And of course, the person also needs to be able to demonstrate his or her design skills. The one who manages to delay the elimination from the show the longest, will win his or her own HGTV design show.

The show, HGTV Design Star 2012, takes off with 12 competitors who are all trying to outdo each other. This year's contestants include artists, stylists as well as rather talented interior designers.

For the second year in a row, David Bromstad is back as a mentor. And this time he also assumes the role of a host of the show. David won the first season of HGTV Design Star and has been with the network ever since.

In addition to HGTV designers Genevieve Gorder and Vern Yip, there are celebrity judges joining them to make the elimination process smoother (or who know, maybe just a bit more painful). The judges include Vanilla Ice from DIY Network. He is also a multi-platinum recoding artists. Also entrepreneur and TV personality Daisy Fuentes will be joining them. Learn about the entire set of celebrity judges below.

Every once in a while you can also see other HGTV hosts appearing in the show, hosts such as Sabrina Soto from The High Low Project, Anthony Carrino from Kitchen Cousins and another HGTV Design Star Meg Caswell, who is now running is own show Great Rooms.

Tune in to HGTV Tuesday, May 29, 9pm ET/PT.
